Scottish Labour peer George Foulkes is to raise Nicola Sturgeon’s Chinese spy row in the House of Lords as part of his bid to cut the SNP’s wasteful spending on overseas offices.
He is calling for the Treasury to stop the Scottish Government from spending public money on issues like the constitution and foreign affairs which are reserved to Westminster.
Lord Foulkes – who is currently isolating at home in Edinburgh after testing positive for Covid-19 – is due to ask Treasury minister Lord Agnew about the matter on Thursday.
After reading our story about Chinese state influence at the heart of the SNP administration, he is now drafting a supplementary question specifically about the taxpayer-funded office in Beijing.
