According to Colleges Scotland, the sector is facing a funding loss of £51.9 million – with this including £28 million of additional funding it had received in the aftermath of Covid.
Scotland risks “sliding into a skills emergency” unless more cash can be found for colleges, leaders in the sector have insisted.
Scottish Government budget plans for the coming year will cut the equivalent of more than £50 million from the sector, Colleges Scotland claimed.
And it warned without additional money “noticeable changes” will have to be made to further education.
