Nicola Sturgeon and the SNP “won’t know what’s hit them” if she pushes ahead with her proposal to turn the next general election into a “de facto” indyref, a pro-union group has defiantly vowed.
Scotland Matters reckons stopping the SNP getting 50 per cent of the votes in an election will be a “doddle for the pro-UK side”. And the group said it was already plotting its campaign to make sure the Nats are unsuccessful in their bid to break up Britain.
Now, Scotland Matters has predicted that will be a monumental mistake for the Nationalists. Allan Sutherland, from the group, pointed out the SNP has never achieved 50 per cent in any national election. He said it “would be playing into the pro-UK parties’ hands with a general election manifesto solely about independence,” adding that voters would ask what happened to other manifesto commitments they claim to have a mandate for.
