Has Nicola Sturgeon found her “star” quality at last? This Friday sees a “sturgeon supermoon” in the night sky. Although this Moon may look bigger it is perhaps not unexpected that it is only an optical illusion. Sadly for Ms Sturgeon, this “attention-seeking” phenomenon is named after the fish – although with SNP spin you never can be sure! Gerald Edwards, Glasgow.
TV news tonight showed Nicola Sturgeon complaining about Westminster – not often she does that – and the cost-of-living crisis. Once again she was moaning about Scotland not having the same borrowing powers as the UK Government, and I say thank goodness for that. So here’s a suggestion, Nicola – start a fund with the £20 million you have squirrelled away for your pretendy referendum next year and ask Westminster to match it. You could also save money by scrapping your pretendy embassies all over the world. Go on, I dare you. Ian Balloch, Naismith Court, Grangemouth.
SCOTLAND MATTERS reached well over 1 million people at the Holyrood election, 1.4m at the Council Elections and in both elections the SNP’s vote and seats won were far below their own predictions.
Now they want another referendum in October 2023. We need to:
- Hammer home their failures – trains, ferries, schools, NHS, jobs, deficit, housing, drugs – and Scotland’s decline since 2007.
- Highlight the issues: the border, currency, NATO, pensions, the £180m debt, the COST and UPHEAVAL to all Scots.
- Get the message to every one of Scotland’s 4.3m voters.
- AND BOYCOTT any illegal IndyRef2!!
However, this costs a LOT of money. PLEASE CONSIDER DONATING TO OUR CROWDFUNDER AND LET’S DERAIL INDYREF2 TOGETHER!!
Tourism in the Scottish islands has been reduced to a complete shambles with ferry services cancelled and ferries breaking down almost every week of the season. This has led to hundreds of cancellations and tourists being forced to sleep in their cars as they are left without any ferry service. The Scottish ferry services to the islands are composed of an ageing fleet of unreliable ferries with the wrong ferries on the wrong routes, and their only replacements being built at Ferguson shipyards at colossal two-and-a-half times over budget estimate of £252 million, and now over five years late. This complete and utter farce of ferry construction comes compliments of the SNP administration who are wholly responsible for this shambles. Dennis Forbes Grattan.
