Hundreds of reported incidents of bullying at schools in Aberdeen have been revealed by a Tory MSP who is urging the SNP Government to get tough.
Over the last five years, some 657 reports have made by pupils across the Granite City, a “horrific” number according to MSP Douglas Lumsden.
The Scottish Government condemned the violence but Mr Lumsden said that teachers are being forced to deal with a “horrifying” number of incidents.
The data from Aberdeen City Council reveal the number of incidents that have been recorded at primary and secondary schools since 2018.
In 2022, as many as 63 bullying complaints were made involving pupils at Aberdeen Grammar School alone.
Lochside Academy, Harlaw Academy, Westpark School and Northfield Academy have also accumulated some of the highest bullying complaints among pupils.
Scotland’s school bullying and youth violence epidemic has been blamed on the plummeting rate of exclusions under the SNP’s soft-touch education regime.
