Scotland’s schools have seen more than 80 sewage leaks in the past four years, disgusting new data shows.

Councils revealed revolting incidents of sewage seeping into school dining areas, kitchens and classrooms.

Figures obtained by the Lib Dems from freedom of information found some 88 sewage spills across 11 council areas since 2019. The party said it reinforced their calls for a clean-up and overhaul of the country’s “Victorian” sewage system.
