Cash-strapped SNP chiefs have been accused of hypocrisy after accepting a sponsorship windfall from a gas giant which is campaigning against its key net zero policies.
SGN, the company which operates Scotland’s entire gas network, has been unveiled as the sponsor of one of the highest-profile events at the SNP conference, which gets under way in Aberdeen on Sunday.
Senior officials at the firm will get the opportunity to speak alongside First Minister Humza Yousaf as headline sponsor of a media reception which will be attended by dozens of MPs, MSPs, advisers, journalists and lobbyists.
A brochure sent to businesses puts the price of sponsoring the event at £15,500, excluding VAT and fees.
