NHS Ayrshire & Arran has tonight refused to confirm or deny rumours that Intensive Care Unit beds will be shipped out of University Hospital Ayr next month and transferred to Crosshouse.
Multiple senior sources have come forward claiming the transfer of beds will take place around Monday, November 20 – supposedly three months ahead of schedule.
Other sources have questioned the wisdom of a potential move in the winter months, especially as the NHS gears up for its busiest times of the year.
However, top brass at the health board won’t give a timescale on the transfer of beds, claiming the “interim changes” will only come into effected once “detailed planning is complete.”
