The issues faced by some people living on the streets locally have been put into sharp focus by new figures which revealed seven homeless deaths in Stirling for 2022.

The data released by the National Records for Scotland reports that 244 homeless deaths took place in Scotland last year, with 216 of these formally identified through death certificates and another 28 estimated using a statistical model.

For Stirling, the figure sat at seven, with one further death also estimated under the model.

It puts Stirling as the fourth highest rate across all of Scotland’s local authorities for estimated rate per population, but this figure is tempered by the small size of the region.
