Majority of Scotland Rejects Separation in Landmark Poll
Written by Stephen Bailey.
A landmark new poll by YouGov (see link to data in the ‘Sources’ section below) has determined that nearly all Scots reject separating Scotland from the rest of the United Kingdom and want to keep the UK together.
It found that only one Scottish region now favours ‘independence’. as voters turn their backs on separatism.
Just one part of Scotland is now out of step with the rest of every other area of this part of the UK. All other areas of Scotland are firmly opposed to breaking up the UK.
Overall, 53% are in favour of keeping Scotland in the United Kingdom compared to 47% who want to remove her from the Union.
Glasgow is now the only area showing majority support for Scotland being removed from the UK, with every other region now opposed to the core aim of the SNP.
The poll breaks down in the following way:
* North East Scotland: Yes 45%, No 55%
* Highlands & Islands: Yes 42%, No 48%
* South Scotland: Yes 47%, No 53%
* West Scotland: Yes 44%, No 56%
* Central Scotland: Yes 48%, No 52%
* Mid-Scotland & Fife: Yes 46%, No 54%
* Lothians: Yes 46%, No 54%
* Glasgow: Yes 66%, No 34%
This latest poll was conducted among 1113 voters living north of the border in the week of January 8th-14th. YouGov asked the question: ‘Should Scotland be an independent country?’
When the question was put to the public in the referendum just over 11 years ago in September 2014, the result was 55% to 45% in favour of keeping Scotland in the UK. Glasgow was one of only 4 council areas to vote to break up the UK, along with North Lanarkshire, Dundee and West Dunbartonshire.
This comprehensive and authoritative poll proves that Scots have turned against the separatist agenda and now virtually universally embrace Scotland staying in the UK.
It also shows a majority of Scots reject the SNP’s monomaniacal and pathological obsession with constitutional matters (’independence’) over much more important day-to-day matters like the economy, health, immigration & asylum, housing, education, the UK leaving the EU, tax and crime, for example.
The tide has turned against the SNP and their separation obsession.
