Aberdeenshire Council – Mid-Formartine by-election Thursday, 19th August 2019 – Tactical vote the SNP out!

If you live in the Oldmeldrum, Balmedie, or Tarves area and are sick and tired of the SNP you have an opportunity not only to replace the retiring SNP councillor with a pro-UK (Libdem or Conservative) councillor but also to send a message to Scotland and Nicola Sturgeon that we have had enough:

Enough of the shocking decline in Scotland’s formerly world-leading education system.

Enough of  Aberdeenshire Council getting 12 percent less than its fair share of Scottish Government funding compared with central belt councils.

Enough of Nicola Sturgeon virtue signalling on the accelerated closure of the oil and gas industry. She is putting thousands of local jobs at risk.
Last week, there were three council by-elections in Scotland. The SNP lost all three of them, two in the Highlands to the LibDems, the other to the Conservatives in North Ayrshire, where twice as many people voted compared to the last election in 2017, most of them for the Conservatives. It has rocked the SNP. The headline in the Daily Record was SNP lose a seat on North Ayrshire Council to Conservatives in huge blow for the Nationalists

The SNP are on the rack. Because of a very successful tactical voting campaign by Scotland Matters and other groups, they have no overall majority and are being forced into a formal pact with the Greens. This is why Nicola Sturgeon now wants Boris Johnson to stop the development of the new Cambo oil field.

We can send another clear message to Nicola Sturgeon that she, her party, their incompetence and their clapped-out independence ideas are not wanted.
Here are the candidates for Thursday.
Jeff Goodhall  Scottish Liberal Democrats
Peter Kennedy  Scottish Green Party
Jenny Nicol  Scottish National Party (SNP)
Sheila Powell  Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party
In 2017 the Conservatives came top with 34.61% of the vote, the combined SNP vote was 26% and the Libdems got 9.4%.

Scotland Matters fully supports tactical voting to beat the SNP. This means voting for the party that is most likely to beat them, even if you aren’t a supporter of that party.

On this occasion, if you want to vote tactically to beat the SNP, Scotland Matters believes, on this occasion, the most likely pro-UK candidate to win would be the Conservatives.
