Tensions are rising over a £14.7 million black hole in next year’s health and social care budget in Renfrewshire – as the “scary” reality of the situation closes in on decision-makers.

Senior health and social care partnership (HSCP) officials have been working on plans to deliver savings for months in a bid to tackle the gap for 2024/25 during a challenging financial climate. Several reviews have been outlined in the sustainable futures programme, with more detailed options due to be presented at the integration joint board (IJB), which is responsible for oversight of the HSCP, in November.
