New figures have highlighted a drop in policing numbers in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire over the past two years.

Data analysed by justice and social affairs publication 1919 Magazine show that the North East (A) Division has suffered an eight per cent drop since March 2020.

As of June 30 this year, Scotland had 16,600 full-time equivalent officers including 12,193 assigned to one of Police Scotland’s 13 divisions.

This shows a fall of 575 from 12,786 in March 2020. Fears have been raised that the cuts are putting public safety and officers themselves at risk.
